PSG Fined for Fan Celebrations After Champions League Win

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) recently made history by claiming their first-ever Champions League title in May, following a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena in Munich. This monumental achievement sparked immense joy and widespread celebrations among their dedicated fanbase, marking a significant milestone for the club.

🎉 Celebrations Lead to Penalties

⚽ Following their unforgettable Champions League final triumph against Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain has been issued a fine by UEFA due to various instances of fan misconduct. The European football governing body announced the penalties after reviewing the events that occurred during the historic match and subsequent celebrations.

🚧 What Went Wrong?

🏟️ The charges against the French champions stemmed from several incidents involving their supporters. These included fans invading the pitch after the final whistle to celebrate, the setting off of fireworks within the stadium, objects being thrown, damage caused to property, and the display of an inappropriate message. Thousands of PSG fans streamed onto the field, overwhelming security staff as they celebrated the club’s maiden European Cup win.

💰 The Financial Impact and Sanctions

💸 In total, UEFA has fined PSG 148,000 euros for these infractions. The largest portions of this penalty were specifically for the pitch invasion and the use of pyrotechnics by supporters. Additionally, UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has imposed a ban on PSG’s away ticket sales for one future UEFA match. This ban is suspended for a period of two years, meaning it will only be activated if further similar incidents occur within that timeframe.
