In a tight Champions League match, Liverpool secured a 1-0 home victory against Real Madrid. The deciding moment came from an Alexis Mac Allister goal off a set-piece, which was enough to separate the two teams. Despite the loss, Real Madrid’s wing-back Alvaro Carreras found some personal positives from the game, particularly his on-field battle with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
⚽ A Tightly Fought Match
The game at Anfield was a close contest, and Carreras acknowledged how difficult it was. He noted that the outcome was decided by a “tiny detail.” Speaking after the match, he explained, “We came to a really tough ground tonight and we knew it was going to be a difficult game. In the end, the game was decided on a tiny detail. They scored from a set-piece, but they all count and it’s given them the win.”
🤔 Reflecting on the Team’s Performance
While disappointed with the result, Carreras also looked at areas where the team could improve. He suggested that Real Madrid might have benefited from a more aggressive approach during the game. “We still have to analyse the game,” he said. “Perhaps we could have been a bit more aggressive, looking to play into the space, get forward quicker.”
💪 A Valuable Learning Experience
On a personal level, Carreras relished the challenge of facing one of the world’s best players. He viewed his duel with Mohamed Salah as a valuable opportunity for growth. “I love a good duel. He has far more experience than I do - Salah is a Liverpool legend,” Carreras shared. “You learn a lot from these battles, and I want to keep working hard to stop other guys like him.”
