Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shared his thoughts on returning to coaching, specifically mentioning his interest in managing the Norwegian national team and reuniting with superstar striker Erling Haaland.
Solskjaer, who has been without a club since leaving Manchester United, expressed his desire to get back into management under the right circumstances. While he is not in a hurry, the prospect of coaching his home country and working with one of the world’s best strikers is clearly an appealing one for him.
🤔 Open to a New Role
After his time at Manchester United, Solskjaer has been taking a break from the sport but is now open to new opportunities. Speaking on the “Overlap” podcast, he mentioned that he isn’t desperate for a job but is considering his options, which could include roles in England, Norway, or Sweden. His main motivation is to work with players and help a club by making “the most of them.”
👀 Eyeing the National Team Job
While showing respect for Norway’s current coach, Stale Solbakken, Solskjaer admitted that he would be interested in the position if it became available one day. He made it clear he supports the team’s current journey but sees the national team job as a potential future role for himself, stating, “if he (Solbakken) one day doesn’t sign a new deal? Of course.”
🤝 A Potential Reunion with Haaland
The possibility of coaching the Norway team is especially exciting to Solskjaer because it would mean working with Erling Haaland again. Solskjaer was Haaland’s manager at the Norwegian club Molde before the striker’s career took off. He expressed his enthusiasm at the thought, asking, “who wouldn’t want to work with Erling Haaland again?”
