Inter Edge Sassuolo 2-1 to End Losing Run

Inter Milan claimed a vital 2-1 victory over a spirited Sassuolo at the San Siro, putting an end to a two-game losing streak in Serie A. An early goal from Federico Dimarco and a late deflected strike from Carlos Augusto were enough to secure the win, despite a late goal from Sassuolo creating a tense finish.

The win provides some relief for Inter, who were under pressure after two consecutive defeats. While their attack created numerous chances, the team’s narrow victory suggests there is still room for improvement in controlling games. For Sassuolo, it was a strong away performance, and they can take pride in how they consistently challenged the home side with their quick and organized counter-attacks.

⚽ Inter’s Strong Start

Inter came out with intent and were rewarded in the 14th minute with a well-crafted goal. Nicolo Barella made a driving run through the midfield and found Petar Sucic, who cleverly laid the ball off for Federico Dimarco to score with a precise finish. The home side continued to create chances, with Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram both coming close to extending their lead before the first half ended.

🏃‍♂️ Sassuolo’s Quick Counters

Despite Inter’s early pressure, Sassuolo remained a constant threat. They defended with discipline and looked dangerous every time they launched a counter-attack, particularly through Armand Lauriente and Domenico Berardi. Sassuolo created several good opportunities of their own. A powerful shot from Lauriente was well-saved, and later, a header from Andrea Pinamonti forced a brilliant one-handed save from Inter’s goalkeeper, Josep Martinez, keeping the score at 1-0.

🥅 Late Goals Add Drama

The match became very exciting in the final 10 minutes. Inter appeared to have sealed the victory in the 81st minute when Carlos Augusto’s shot took a large deflection and went into the net. However, Sassuolo replied almost instantly when Walid Cheddira scored from close range to make it 2-1. Inter’s Davide Frattesi had a goal disallowed for offside shortly after, but the home team managed to hold on to their lead and secure three important points.
