After a successful loan spell last season, forward Antony has made a permanent move to Real Betis from Manchester United. In a recent interview, he revealed that another major Spanish club, Atlético Madrid, had also shown interest in signing him over the summer, but his heart was set on returning to Betis.
🗣️ On Other Clubs’ Interest
Antony explained that while there were conversations with several clubs, including Atlético Madrid, they never turned into formal offers. “Good offers came in, many of them just conversations and not real offers,” he said. “The official offer I had from Betis is the one I signed and what I wanted. The rest didn’t go beyond conversations.”
💚 A Clear Choice
For Antony, the decision to join Betis was a personal one that he and his family fully supported. He emphasized his strong desire to continue his career with the club. “I’m very happy to be back. It’s the decision I wanted, the one my wife wanted too,” he shared. This clear preference helped him stay focused during the transfer process.
💪 Overcoming a Difficult Transfer
The negotiations between Manchester United and Betis were not easy and took a long time to complete. Antony admitted the process was stressful. “It was very hard… It was a bit scary not being able to come here,” he recalled. To stay positive, he drew strength from remembering difficult times in his past. “You have to be persistent,” he concluded, expressing his happiness that the move was finally completed.
