Ipswich Town has strengthened its forward line by bringing in striker Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from the Dutch club Ajax. The 29-year-old is the club’s sixth new player this summer and could make his first appearance in the upcoming Carabao Cup match against Bromley.
Akpom’s arrival is a significant move for Ipswich, as he brings valuable experience from playing in England’s second tier. His time at top clubs like Ajax and Lille also adds a high level of expertise to the squad.
✍️ A New Face in Attack
Akpom spent last season on loan at French club Lille, where he competed in the Champions League. During his time there, he scored three goals and provided one assist in 16 appearances across all competitions. He now joins Ipswich as they prepare for the season ahead.
🔙 Returning to the Championship
The striker is no stranger to English football, having played for several clubs in the Championship. His previous teams include Middlesbrough, Brighton, Hull City, and Nottingham Forest, giving him a deep understanding of the league’s competitive nature.
💪 Eager to Contribute
Speaking about the move, Akpom expressed his excitement. “I was really excited when I heard of the interest and I’m delighted to have joined a club with such big ambitions,” he said. He believes his style of play is a great fit for Ipswich and is ready to bring a “winning mentality” to help the team both on and off the pitch.
