Deco on Man City's Interest in Kounde

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has recently spoken about Manchester City’s interest in their defender, Jules Kounde, during the summer transfer window. He confirmed that City did ask about the player but clarified that the situation did not progress to a formal offer.

🗣️ Setting the Record Straight

Deco explained that while there was contact from Manchester City, it was more of an initial inquiry. “The only thing I know is that City were looking for a full-back and asked us, naturally, if Koundé was on the market,” he stated. He made it clear that no official bid was ever submitted by the English club.

🤝 Barça’s Firm Stance

In response to the inquiry, Barcelona’s position was firm and simple. Deco said they immediately informed Manchester City that Kounde was not for sale. “We replied that he wasn’t,” he added, emphasizing that there were “neither an offer nor any negotiations” between the two clubs regarding the player.

📝 Kounde’s Commitment to the Club

The transfer talk was put to rest when Kounde showed his commitment to the club. In mid-August, the French defender signed a new long-term contract with Barcelona, keeping him at the club until 2030. This new deal solidified his place in the team and ended any speculation about a potential move.
