Harder's Leipzig Move Survives Last-Minute Scare

Danish striker Conrad Harder’s move from Sporting CP to RB Leipzig was confirmed in the final moments of Transfer Deadline Day, in a transfer that almost didn’t happen. The deal was successfully registered just 15 seconds before the German transfer window closed, creating a tense and unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

⏰ A Race Against Time

The final hours of the transfer window were incredibly stressful for Conrad Harder. The German window closes earlier than in many other leagues, at 8:00 PM CET, adding to the pressure. Harder revealed that the process was delayed by a system failure when the paperwork was first sent. The initial attempt at 7:51 PM did not go through. It wasn’t until a second try, with the clock at 7:57 PM, that the transfer was finally processed. “It was all the way down to being 15 seconds from falling through,” Harder said.

😅 A Rollercoaster of Emotions

Recalling the final moments, Harder described the experience as “hectic and not fun.” He explained that important negotiations and paperwork submissions were happening right up to the deadline. The technical glitch only made things more intense. The mood in the office quickly changed from anxious to joyful when the confirmation came through. “When there were 15 seconds left, the office burst into cheers, and then I could breathe a sigh of relief,” he shared.

📈 A Rising Star’s Journey

Before his move to Germany, Harder had an impressive record. He scored 35 goals in 37 games for Nordsjælland’s Under-19 team in his home country of Denmark. He later joined Sporting in the summer of 2024, where he scored 11 goals in 47 appearances. This included five goals in seven Portuguese Cup matches, one of which was in the final victory against Benfica.

🤝 A Perfect Fit for Leipzig

RB Leipzig’s sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, expressed his excitement about the new signing. He praised Harder’s abilities, noting that the striker is a great match for the team’s style. “In Conrad, we’ve signed a striker who perfectly suits our profile,” Schäfer stated. “He’s tall, physically and mentally strong, aggressive, with a lot of pace and a very dangerous left foot. He’s also got international experience.” Harder has signed a five-year contract with the club.
