Former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is reportedly set for a surprising career move to Mexico. The 29-year-old French player is said to be close to signing with Monterrey, a major club in Mexico’s top football league, Liga MX.
This potential transfer marks another new chapter for Martial after he left the Premier League. If the deal goes through, he will soon travel to Mexico to complete his medical tests.
✈️ A New Destination in Mexico
After leaving Manchester United, Martial joined Greek club AEK Athens last summer. While he showed initial promise, his time there was mixed. He ended the season with a respectable record of nine goals and two assists in 23 appearances. Now, it appears he is ready for a new challenge outside of Europe.
📝 How the Deal Came Together
Monterrey seems to have successfully secured Martial’s signature ahead of their rivals, Pumas. Reports suggest that Pumas was also interested in the forward but decided to pull out of the negotiations. The main reason was reportedly a disagreement over Martial’s salary expectations, which paved the way for Monterrey to complete the deal.
⭐ Teaming Up with a Legend
If he joins Monterrey, Martial will have the chance to play alongside a well-known football star. Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos has been with the Mexican club since February, and the addition of Martial would add more European top-flight experience to their squad.
