The NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas is heading into its final stages, with four undefeated teams set to battle in the semifinals for a spot in the championship game. Meanwhile, the WNBA All-Star 2025 weekend also got underway, featuring thrilling skill competitions where some of the league’s biggest names put on a show.
🏀 Players Make Strong Final Impression
For many players, Friday’s games were the last chance to impress before the 2025-26 season. Several hopefuls took full advantage of the opportunity. One of the day’s top performers was Yuki Kawamura, who at 5-foot-8, recorded an impressive 20 points and 10 assists to lead the Bulls to a win over the Jazz. Other standouts included second-year guard Judah Mintz, who scored 20 points for the 76ers, and Pelicans’ rookie Jeremiah Fears, who finished his summer run with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
🏆 Undefeated Teams Clash in Semifinals
With the preliminary rounds complete, the Summer League championship is now down to four unbeaten teams. In the first semifinal, the Kings will face the Raptors. The matchup will feature two exciting rookies, with Sacramento’s Nique Clifford going up against Toronto’s Collin Murray-Boyles, who had his best performance of the summer to help his team advance. The second semifinal will see the Hornets take on the Thunder. This game presents a classic contrast in styles, as the high-scoring Hornets, led by rookie Kon Knueppel, will test the Thunder’s league-best defense, which has allowed just 80.5 points per game.
✨ Liberty Stars Shine at WNBA All-Star Friday
The WNBA All-Star 2025 weekend in Indianapolis kicked off with the league’s reigning champions, the New York Liberty, taking center stage. Liberty players dominated the Friday night events, collecting more honors for their team. In the Kia Skills Challenge, guard Natasha Cloud narrowly beat Seattle’s Erica Wheeler to win the title. Later, in the STARRY® 3-Point Contest, Liberty superstar Sabrina Ionescu reclaimed her crown, becoming only the second player in WNBA history to win the event multiple times. The weekend will conclude with the main event, the AT&T WNBA All-Star Game.
