
The NBA Summer League in Las Vegas is a great place for rookies to get their first taste of professional basketball, but it’s also a chance for second-year players to show how much they’ve improved. After a year of NBA experience, many sophomores from the 2024 draft class returned to the court with more confidence and skill. Here are some of the players who stood out.
📈 Ron Holland II: Ready for a Bigger Role
Selected with the No. 5 pick in the 2024 Draft, Ron Holland II of the Pistons showed he is ready to take on more responsibility. After playing in 81 games last season, he looked sharp in Las Vegas, averaging an impressive 21.7 points over three games. With several key players having left the team, Holland II’s strong performance suggests he could be a very important player for the Pistons in the upcoming season.
💪 Bronny James: Growing in Confidence
Bronny James of the Lakers played with noticeable confidence in Las Vegas. He looked comfortable leading the offense and making plays for his team. In a game against the Clippers, he had a great all-around performance with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Throughout the event, he consistently showed his ability to both score and help his teammates, averaging 16.3 points and 4.3 assists per game.
🏀 Yuki Kawamura: Impressive Playmaking
After playing for the Grizzlies last season, Japanese guard Yuki Kawamura joined the Bulls for Summer League and made a strong impression. He is known for his excellent court vision and pass-first style. In a standout game against the Jazz, he scored 20 points and made 10 assists with many exciting passes. His great play earned him a two-way contract with the Bulls, proving he has what it takes to compete at this level.
🛡️ Alexandre Sarr: A Defensive Force
Alexandre Sarr of the Wizards, who had a strong rookie season, used the Summer League to continue his development. He is a powerful defender, and he showed it by setting a new Summer League record with eight blocks in a single game. In that same game, he also scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, showcasing his skills on both ends of the court and his potential to become a leading player for his team.
