Summer League: Minix Buzzer-Beater, Five Teams Undefeated

The NBA 2K26 Summer League action continued with thrilling moments, including a dramatic game-winning shot and some incredible dunks. The main story of the day was the five teams that managed to stay undefeated, improving their records to 3-0. Among the day’s biggest highlights were Riley Minix’s clutch shot at the buzzer for the Spurs and an impressive poster dunk by the Pacers’ Johnny Furphy.

💥 A Dramatic Finish in Overtime

The most exciting game of the day was the matchup between the Spurs and the Jazz, which went into overtime. With just 1.9 seconds left, Kyle Filipowski of the Jazz tied the game with a powerful dunk. It looked like the game was headed for a second overtime, but the Spurs had one last chance. Harrison Ingram passed the ball to Riley Minix on the baseline, who turned and shot a 19-foot fadeaway jumper. The shot went in right as the buzzer sounded, giving the Spurs a 93-91 victory and keeping their perfect record alive.

✅ Five Teams Stay Perfect

Besides the Spurs, four other teams maintained their winning streaks to go 3-0. The Hornets secured a comfortable 87-69 win over the Mavericks, with their No. 4 draft pick Kon Knueppel contributing 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Hawks also remained undefeated after a big comeback against the Rockets, winning 111-108 in overtime, thanks to key free throws from Kobe Bufkin. The Kings took control of their game early against the Suns and won 94-76. In a battle for Los Angeles pride, the Clippers defeated the Lakers 67-58. Jordan Miller led the Clippers with 19 points, while Bronny James had a solid game for the Lakers with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

🌟 Standout Individual Performances

Several players had impressive games across the league. In the Bulls’ 114-105 victory over the Pacers, Johnny Furphy delivered two amazing dunks for Indiana, including a memorable poster dunk. However, the Bulls’ lottery picks, Matas Buzelis (28 points) and Noa Essengue (21 points), were too much for the Pacers. In another game, the Heat earned their first win in Las Vegas by defeating the Celtics 100-96. The Heat’s trio of Pelle Larsson (24 points), Keshad Johnson (22 points), and Kel’el Ware (21 points, 15 rebounds) all played exceptionally well.

🗓️ A Look Ahead at Key Matchups

The excitement in Las Vegas continues with more games on the schedule. One of the key games to watch will be a matchup between two undefeated teams, the Timberwolves and the Pistons. This game will feature several talented 2024 first-round picks, including Terrence Shannon Jr. and Rob Dillingham for Minnesota and Ron Holland II for Detroit. Another interesting game will be the 76ers against the Wizards, which could feature a matchup between two of this year’s top draft picks, VJ Edgecombe (No. 3) and Tre Johnson (No. 6).
