This partnership highlights a commitment to creating real-world opportunities for young talent. By connecting students with industry professionals, the event aimed to inspire creativity and provide the tools needed for success in a competitive field.
🚀 Fostering Young Talent
For the second consecutive year, the NBA Foundation and the Rockets collaborated to make a positive impact at AfroTech. They sponsored 100 students, giving them the chance to attend the three-day event. This experience allowed students to network, learn from industry experts, and gain inspiration for their future careers.
💡 A Platform for Innovation
A major highlight of the event was the Tech Challenge, a design competition for the students. Using real-world challenges provided by the Rockets’ Community Relations department, 25 students presented their forward-thinking ideas. Participants from local universities, including Rice University, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern University, and the University of Houston, showcased solutions that combined creativity with community focus.

After careful consideration, the winning title was awarded to the “TIGER VISIONARIES” from Texas Southern University. Their impressive concept stood out for its strong community-driven approach and innovative thinking. The win celebrated their hard work and highlighted the bright ideas emerging from the region’s young minds.
