This season, fans can look forward to four innovative stats. The Defensive Box Score will credit defensive players for their actions, similar to how offensive stats are tracked. A new Shot Difficulty metric will use AI to determine how tough any shot is, based on factors like defender distance and player positioning. The Gravity metric will measure a player’s ability to draw defenders and create space for teammates. Finally, the Play Finder tool will allow fans and analysts to search for specific types of plays across games.

This system captures 29 data points on each player’s body 60 times per second, creating a detailed picture of their movements.
