Luka Dončić Starts Season with Historic Scoring Streak

Luka Dončić has kicked off the new season in spectacular fashion, becoming only the fourth player in NBA history to score 40 or more points in his first two games. After putting up 43 points against Golden State, he followed it with an incredible 49-point performance to lead the Lakers to a victory over Minnesota.

His amazing start includes a total of 92 points, 23 rebounds, and 17 assists across the two games, and he nearly recorded a triple-double in both contests. With LeBron James currently sidelined due to injury, Dončić has taken on the main scoring role and shown he is more than ready for the challenge, delivering phenomenal all-around performances.

🌟 A Record-Breaking Beginning

Dončić’s 92 points are the most ever scored by a player to start a season in the Lakers’ long history. It also ranks as the fourth-most points scored by any player in the NBA through their first two games of a season. After spending the summer getting into peak physical condition, his hard work is clearly paying off on the court.

💪 Carrying the Team

With LeBron James expected to miss the first few weeks, Dončić knew he would need to handle a larger share of the scoring. He has done so brilliantly while also focusing on his all-around game. “It’s felt great,” Dončić said after the win. “I wish we would have won the first game, but obviously it’s a good comeback… I think Minnesota is a great team. We had to do a lot to win today.”

😄 Praise from Teammates

Dončić’s teammates have been impressed by his incredible start. While they admire his skill, they also keep things fun and lighthearted. After a powerful dunk in the fourth quarter, teammate Austin Reaves joked that Dončić “ain’t very explosive.” Reaves added, “He’s obviously one of the best players in the league… The stuff he does isn’t a surprise to anybody.” Even the coach, JJ Redick, briefly kept Dončić in the game to see if he could reach 50 points, but ultimately decided to rest his star player.
