The Charlotte Hornets delivered a powerful performance in the NBA 2K26 Summer League semifinals, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder with a commanding 109-80 score. Jaylen Sims was the star of the show with an impressive 25-point game. This victory sends the Hornets to the Championship Game, where they will face the Kings.
The key difference in the game was shooting efficiency. The Hornets played with great teamwork and shot the ball very well, while the Thunder struggled to make their shots, hitting only 31.8% from the field. This offensive gap allowed the Hornets to build a large lead and control the game from start to finish.
🔥 Hornets’ Offensive Firepower
Jaylen Sims led the charge for the Hornets with an outstanding scoring night. He scored 25 points on very efficient 10-for-14 shooting, including making 4 out of 6 three-point attempts. He wasn’t alone, as the Hornets showed great team balance. Kon Knueppel added 17 points, MJ Walker scored 13, and PJ Hall contributed 12 points.
🤝 All-Around Team Effort
Beyond the high scorers, the Hornets demonstrated excellent teamwork in other areas. KJ Simpson had a great all-around game, finishing with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists. His ability to contribute in different ways was crucial to the team’s success and showed how everyone played a part in the victory.
📉 Thunder’s Shooting Struggles
On the other side, the Thunder found it difficult to keep up. Erik Reynolds II was their leading scorer with 16 points, but the team as a whole could not find its rhythm on offense. Their low shooting percentage made it hard to match the Hornets’ scoring pace. Branden Carlson also played well, recording 12 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.
