Giannis Antetokounmpo has returned to the Milwaukee Bucks, joining his team for practice on Saturday in Miami. His presence is a welcome sight for the team, as he missed the first few days of training camp while recovering from COVID-19 in his home country of Greece.
🏃♂️ A Gradual Return to the Court
To ensure a safe recovery, Antetokounmpo is easing back into action. According to coach Doc Rivers, he participated only in non-contact work during his first session back. The team is taking a careful approach, with Rivers mentioning, “He said he’s going to need a good three days” to get back up to speed. The Bucks are currently training in Miami ahead of their preseason game against the Heat.
💪 Giannis on His Recovery
Speaking about his health, Antetokounmpo shared that the illness took a toll on him. “I think it took a toll on my body. I’m not feeling 100% yet physically,” he explained. However, he remains positive and is focused on regaining his strength step by step. “Just taking it day by day, getting back in shape… Tomorrow I’ll be a little better. I’ve got like 18 days until the first game so I think I’ll be fine.”
🏆 A Key Player for the Bucks
As he enters his 13th season with Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo remains the heart of the team. The nine-time All-Star, two-time MVP, and NBA champion is one of the most dominant players in the league. He is also one of only two players, along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder, to average at least 30 points per game in each of the last three seasons, highlighting his vital role in the Bucks’ success.
