Day 4 of EuroBasket 2025 saw some thrilling basketball action, with Serbia and Germany officially securing their spots in the knockout phase. Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokić led Serbia with a game-high 39 points, while Sacramento Kings’ Dennis Schröder guided Germany to a dominant victory. Despite another incredible 39-point effort from Luka Dončić, Slovenia faced a tough loss against a deep French squad.
🇷🇸 Serbia’s Unstoppable Run
Nikola Jokić was the undisputed star for Serbia, pouring in a career-best 39 points, including the crucial final free throws, to edge out Latvia 84-80. The Denver Nuggets center also added 10 rebounds and four assists, showcasing his all-around dominance. This impressive victory improved Serbia’s record to 3-0 in Group A, guaranteeing them a place in the knockout stage with two games to spare. Bogdan Bogdanovic, captain for Serbia and Los Angeles Clippers guard, missed the game due to a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun’s 20 first-half points propelled Turkey to a commanding 95-54 win over Portugal, also securing their 3-0 record and a spot in the next round. Estonia also defeated Czechia in Group A.
🇩🇪 Germany and Finland March On
World champion Germany continued its strong campaign, with Sacramento Kings point guard Dennis Schröder leading the charge with 26 points in a dominant 107-88 win against Lithuania. Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner contributed 24 points and seven rebounds, while Daniel Theis added 23 points. Germany’s impressive 19 three-pointers on 54% shooting, including Schröder’s 5-of-10 from deep, highlighted their offensive power, moving them to a perfect 3-0 in Group B. Unfortunately, Schröder faced racial abuse from two fans, who were promptly ejected. Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen also shined, scoring 26 points to help Finland secure their 3-0 record and a playoff berth with an 85-65 victory over Montenegro. Sweden also beat Britain in Group B.
🇫🇷 Dončić’s Efforts Not Enough for Slovenia
Despite a magnificent 39-point performance, Luka Dončić and Slovenia (0-2) fell short against a formidable French team, losing 103-95. This came just two days after Dončić had scored 34 points in another defeat. His outing against France pushed him past 1,000 career points for Slovenia. France’s bench proved to be their secret weapon, with point guard Sylvain Francisco leading all scorers for his team with 32 points. France’s reserves collectively scored 78 points, significantly outscoring Slovenia’s 26 bench points. Washington Wizards’ Bilal Coulibaly and Alex Sarr combined for 25 points, while Atlanta Hawks’ Zaccharie Risacher added 12 points, contributing to France’s 2-0 record in Group D.
🇵🇱 Poland’s Clutch Win and Greece’s Rest Day
In other action, American-born guard Jordan Loyd was clutch for Poland, scoring 27 points, including 10 of their final 13 points, to secure a narrow 66-64 victory over Israel. Loyd’s putback with 13 seconds left sealed Poland’s 2-0 record. Deni Avdija of the Portland Trailblazers led Israel with 23 points. Belgium also mounted a comeback to defeat Iceland 71-64 in Group D. Over in Group C, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was rested, but Greece still comfortably beat Cyprus 96-69, two days after his 31-point performance against Italy.
