Team USA's 2025 AmeriCup roster features eight players from top European leagues, blending experience with fresh talent for the upcoming tournament.
USA Basketball Unveils AmeriCup Roster with European Flavor

Team USA has announced its 12-man roster for the 2025 FIBA Men’s AmeriCup, set to take place from August 22-31 in Managua, Nicaragua. A notable highlight of this squad is the strong representation of players currently competing in European basketball leagues, with eight members bringing their international experience to the team. This blend of seasoned professionals and new faces aims to continue USA Basketball’s tradition of excellence in the tournament.

🏀 European Talent Leads the Way

Leading this impressive roster is Jerian Grant, the skilled guard from Panathinaikos Athens, who recently celebrated a EuroLeague championship in 2024. Known for his exceptional defensive abilities, Grant is expected to be a key player. He is joined by several other talents from European teams, including Tyler Cavanaugh (Bahcesehir), Jarrell Eddie (formerly with Peristeri), Langston Galloway (Esenier Erokspor), veteran guard Speedy Smith (most recently with Turk Telekom), Cam Reynolds (Maroussi), and Elijah Pemberton (Ludwigsburg). Jahmi’us Ramsey, who recently signed with Italian club Trieste, also makes the cut, emphasizing the international flair of the team.

✨ Blending Experience with Fresh Debuts

The roster thoughtfully combines players with previous USA Basketball experience with those making their national team debut. Robert Baker II, Jahmi’us Ramsey, and Javonte Smart previously played in the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers, with Ramsey being a consistent presence across all six games. Smart also boasts gold medals from the 2016 USA U16 and 2017 USA U17 Men’s National Teams. Tyler Cavanaugh, Langston Galloway, Elijah Pemberton, and Cam Reynolds have contributed in past World Cup Qualifying windows. Interestingly, Zach Auguste, who has European roots and a Greek passport, will represent the USA, marking his “basketball citizenship” with this call-up. He, along with Jack Cooley, Jarell Eddie, Jerian Grant, and Speedy Smith, will be making their first appearance for USA Basketball.

🗓️ Coaching Leadership and Tournament Path

Former NBA head coach Stephen Silas will lead the team as head coach, supported by experienced NBA assistant coaches Brad Jones and Patrick Mutombo, along with Mahmoud Abdelfattah. The team will hold a training camp in Miami from August 12-18 before heading to Nicaragua. Their tournament journey begins on August 23 against Bahamas, followed by matches against Uruguay on August 24 and Brazil on August 26 in the group stage. The USA has a strong history in the AmeriCup, having secured seven gold medals and a bronze in 2022, and will be looking to add another title to their collection.
