Valencia Basket has officially signed American power forward Braxton Key, a versatile player known for his strong defensive skills. He joins the team on a contract that will last until the end of the 2025–26 season, bringing valuable experience from his time in the NBA and the G-League.

This move provides a significant boost to Valencia’s frontcourt. Key is expected to make an immediate impact with his defensive abilities and all-around game. His addition gives the team more depth and versatility as they compete in the season.

✍️ A New Face in Valencia

Braxton Key joins Valencia as a free agent after a brief preseason stint with the Grizzlies. The 28-year-old forward, who stands at 2.03m, is set to strengthen the team’s lineup. He played college basketball for both Alabama and Virginia before turning professional.

🛡️ Impressive Defensive Skills

Key has built a strong reputation for his defense. In the G-League, he was named the Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024–25 season, where he averaged an impressive 18.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.9 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. He was also selected for the G-League All-Defensive Team twice, once alongside his new Valencia teammate, Isaac Nogués.

🏀 Experience from the NBA

Key brings experience from the highest level of basketball, having played in 42 games over four seasons in the NBA. He has suited up for several teams, including the 76ers, Pistons, Nuggets, and Warriors. He ended his most recent NBA season with the Warriors, even participating in the NBA Playoffs, which shows he can perform in high-pressure situations.
