Dubai’s new EuroLeague team has signed Australian guard Taran Armstrong to strengthen its roster. This move comes as the team faces several early-season injuries, making the 23-year-old’s arrival a timely boost for their campaigns in both the EuroLeague and the ABA League.
🏀 A New Face in European Basketball
Taran Armstrong is set to become the only active Australian player in the EuroLeague, Europe’s top club basketball competition. His signing with Dubai marks a significant step in his career, bringing his dynamic playmaking skills from Australia and the United States to a new stage. Fans will be eager to see how the young guard adapts to the high level of competition.
🩹 Why Dubai Needs Reinforcements
The team has been dealing with a tough start to the season due to injuries. Key players such as Danilo Andjusic, Aleksa Avramovic, and Dzanan Musa are currently sidelined, leaving the squad shorthanded. By signing Armstrong, the team adds much-needed depth to its backcourt, ensuring they have enough options as they navigate a demanding schedule that includes an upcoming game against Olympiacos.
✈️ Armstrong’s Journey to the Top
Hailing from Tasmania, Armstrong has built an impressive resume. He played college basketball in the US for California Baptist before turning professional and joining the Cairns Taipans in Australia’s NBL, where he averaged 17.1 points per game last season. Most recently, he gained valuable experience in the NBA G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors, showcasing his all-around talent with averages of 11.8 points, 7.9 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game.
🌏 International Experience
Armstrong is no stranger to the international stage. He has represented Australia in the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 and 2025 Qualifiers, as well as at the FIBA U19 World Cup in 2021. This experience playing against top talent from around the world has prepared him for the challenges of competing in the EuroLeague.
