Panathinaikos Star Cedi Osman Sidelined by Injury

Panathinaikos will be without key player Cedi Osman for an unknown period after he sustained an ankle injury while playing for Turkiye at EuroBasket 2025. This setback comes just as the team is gearing up for the new season, forcing him to miss their upcoming preseason tournament in Australia.

Osman’s absence is a significant blow to Panathinaikos’ preseason plans, especially with other players like T.J. Shorts II, Mathias Lessort, and Marius Grigonis also unavailable. The team will have to adjust its preparations without several key members as they head into the important Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament.

🤕 An Unfortunate Setback

Cedi Osman has been sidelined indefinitely by Panathinaikos due to an ankle injury. The 30-year-old forward will not travel with the team to Australia for preseason games against Partizan Mozzart Bet and the Adelaide 36ers. He will instead remain in Athens to focus on his treatment and recovery.

🇹🇷 Playing Through Pain for His Country

The injury first occurred during Turkiye’s Quarterfinal match against Poland in EuroBasket 2025. Despite the issue, Osman continued to play in the Semifinals and the Final, where his team won a silver medal. This effort unfortunately worsened the injury, leading to a bone bruise that was discovered after a medical check-up with Panathinaikos.

⏳ An Uncertain Road to Recovery

With the start of the 2025-26 EuroLeague season just around the corner, Osman is now a doubt for the opening game on September 30. Having joined the Greek club after a long NBA career with the Cavaliers and Spurs, Osman is a vital part of the team and recently signed a contract extension until 2027. The team will be hoping for his speedy return to the court.
