Olympiacos guard Keenan Evans faces a tough recovery after surgery for a serious Achilles tendon injury.
Keenan Evans Undergoes Surgery After Recent Injury

Olympiacos guard Keenan Evans’ much-anticipated EuroLeague return was cut short in a game against his former team, Zalgiris, on November 12. Just two minutes into the match, Evans went down with a ruptured left Achilles tendon, a tough moment for the player and his new team.

This injury is a significant setback for both Evans and Olympiacos. For a player known for his skill and determination, another long period of rehabilitation is a major challenge. For the team, losing a key player so early in his contract forces them to rethink their strategy for the season.

🤕 A Difficult Return

It was a heartbreaking scene at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. Evans was playing in his first EuroLeague game since the 2023-24 season, and it happened to be against Zalgiris, the club he had just left. Unfortunately, his time on the court lasted only 121 seconds before the serious injury occurred.

🙏 The Road to Recovery Begins

Following the incident, Olympiacos announced that Keenan Evans had successful surgery in the United States on November 18. The club shared a message of support, saying, “Wishing you a speedy recovery, Keenan! You’ll come back to the court even stronger!” The focus now shifts to his long-term recovery and rehabilitation process.

⏳ A History of Unfortunate Injuries

This isn’t the first major injury Evans has faced. In January 2023, he suffered a torn Achilles tendon that ended his season. More recently, in May 2024, he sustained a patellar tendon rupture while playing for Zalgiris in a domestic league game. This series of setbacks makes his latest injury even more challenging.

🏀 Evans’ European Journey

Before joining Olympiacos on a three-year deal in 2024, Evans had made a name for himself in Europe. The former Texas Tech player began his EuroLeague career with Maccabi in the 2021-22 season, helping them reach the playoffs. He then spent two successful years with Zalgiris, becoming a key player for the Lithuanian team.
