In an exciting preseason matchup, Olympiacos secured their first win by defeating Milano 76-71. After a slow start, the team mounted a strong second-half comeback, largely thanks to a standout performance from their new player, Evan Fournier.
🔄 A Tale of Two Halves
The game started in Milano’s favor, as they controlled the pace and built a 31-26 lead by halftime. Olympiacos struggled to find their rhythm early on. However, the momentum shifted completely after the break, with Olympiacos turning the game around with a powerful offensive push.
🔥 Fournier Powers the Comeback
Evan Fournier was the hero of the second half. After a quiet start, he exploded offensively, scoring 14 of his 15 total points after halftime. He was the main force behind a crucial 15-4 run that put Olympiacos ahead, and his team held on to that lead to secure the victory.
💪 Team Effort and Key Players
While Fournier led the charge, it was a solid team effort. Sasha Vezenkov contributed 12 points, and Tyson Ward added 10 points for Olympiacos. It’s also worth noting that the team played without several key members, including the injured Keenan Evans and other players who recently returned from international duty. For Milano, Zach LeDay and Lorenzo Brown both had strong games, each scoring 13 points.
🏆 Looking Ahead
With this victory, Olympiacos advances to the final of the International Basketball Tournament in Crete. They are set to face Crvena Zvezda, who defeated the reigning EuroLeague champions, Fenerbahce, in the other semifinal match.
