Dubai Extends Contract for Injured Star Mouhammadou Jaiteh

In a strong show of support, Dubai’s basketball team has announced a contract extension for their center, Mouhammadou Jaiteh, through the 2027-28 season. This decision is especially notable as Jaiteh is currently recovering from a serious Achilles injury that will keep him off the court for the entire season.

🙏 A Gesture of Confidence

The 30-year-old French player had initially signed a two-season contract in the summer of 2025. Following his injury, the club decided to offer him an additional year. This move is a clear sign of the team’s long-term belief in Jaiteh’s abilities and their commitment to supporting him through his recovery.

🤝 A Club with a Vision

General Manager Dejan Kamenjašević explained the team’s thinking. “In our planning, Jaiteh was an essential player,” he said. He acknowledged that while such contract extensions for injured players are not common in professional basketball, it reflects the club’s values. “It means he can remain calm and patient during his rehab, knowing that Dubai Basketball has been with him since day one.”

🙌 Gratitude and Appreciation

Mouhammadou Jaiteh expressed his deep appreciation for the team’s support. “This gesture is not common in professional sport, and it means everything to me,” he shared. He thanked the club’s management for their trust, adding that it shows the great character of the organization. Jaiteh is now focusing on his rehabilitation and is expected to return to the court for the 2026-27 season.
