Coach Zvezdan Mitrović has won his long-running legal dispute against his former team, French club ASVEL. After three years, a court has ordered the club to pay him nearly half a million euros in compensation following his dismissal in 2020.
⚖️ A Lengthy Legal Battle Concludes
The court case, which spanned three years, finally reached a conclusion in favor of Mitrović. The ruling requires ASVEL to pay him a total of €483,464. This amount includes €481,464 for the remainder of his contract and an additional €2,000 to cover court costs, officially settling the financial dispute between the coach and the club.
📜 A Successful but Controversial Partnership
This dispute dates back to Mitrović’s time with ASVEL. He joined the team in 2018 and quickly found success, leading them to a French championship title in his first season. However, despite being on a three-year contract, he was let go in 2020. The club claimed that his dismissal was due to inappropriate behavior and a series of technical fouls that they felt damaged the team’s public image.
🏀 Mitrović’s Career Since ASVEL
Since parting ways with ASVEL, Mitrović has continued his coaching career across Europe. He has had coaching stints with other top clubs, including Monaco and Galatasaray. He is currently the head coach of Cedevita Olimpija, a position he has held since 2024. His extensive coaching history also includes leading the Montenegro national team and several other European clubs.
