Barcelona’s young guard, Juan Nunez, is facing another hurdle in his recovery journey. The club has announced that the 21-year-old will need a second surgical procedure on his right knee following complications from his initial surgery back in March.
🤕 A Setback in His Return
After working his way back to team activities, Nunez experienced an inflammatory reaction—essentially swelling and discomfort—in the same knee that was operated on for a torn external meniscus earlier this year. This unexpected issue has unfortunately stalled his comeback.
👨⚕️ Doctors to Take a Closer Look
The team’s medical staff initially tried conservative treatments to manage the inflammation, but these methods were not successful. As a result, doctors have decided to perform an exploratory arthroscopy next week. This is a minimally invasive keyhole procedure that will allow them to get a clearer picture of what is happening inside the knee. The surgery will be handled by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau at the Hospital de Barcelona.
⏳ An Uncertain Road Ahead
For now, Nunez’s return to the court is on hold. Barcelona has stated that they will release another update on his condition after the procedure is completed. Fans and the team will be eagerly awaiting good news as the young player works to overcome this latest challenge.
