Veteran player Pierre Oriola is making a comeback to where it all began, rejoining his hometown team BAXI Manresa for the rest of the 2025-26 season. The 33-year-old forward’s return was announced on Friday, marking his first appearance in the BKT EuroCup in nearly eight years.
This move is a significant boost for Manresa, who are currently facing challenges in both their domestic and European competitions. Oriola’s extensive experience and winning background are expected to bring stability and leadership to the team as they look to improve their standing.
🏠 A Familiar Face Returns
This isn’t the first time Pierre Oriola has returned to Manresa. After starting his career there, he explored other opportunities before coming back for the 2023-24 season. Most recently, he played in Mexico for Fuerza Regia, where he helped the team win the national league championship, contributing with an average of 5.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
🏆 A Career Full of Achievements
Oriola brings a wealth of high-level experience to the team. He previously reached the EuroCup Finals with Valencia in 2017. He then spent five years with the famous FC Barcelona, playing in 142 EuroLeague games and winning two Spanish ACB league titles. He has also played in the Basketball Champions League with AEK and has a decorated international career with Spain, winning a gold medal at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
💪 A Timely Boost for the Team
Manresa is hoping Oriola’s arrival will help turn their season around. The team, led by coach Diego Ocampo, currently has a 3-4 record in their EuroCup group and is looking to secure a spot in the next stage. In their domestic league, their 2-4 record places them close to the relegation zone, making his veteran presence more important than ever.
