Veteran forward Augustine Rubit is making a return to the BKT EuroCup after eight years, signing a short-term contract with Lietkabelis Panevėžys. He joins the team as a much-needed reinforcement while they deal with an early-season injury.
This move brings a proven scorer with top-level European experience to the Lithuanian side, providing stability and firepower to their frontcourt during a critical period.
🤝 A Timely Reinforcement
Lietkabelis has added 36-year-old Augustine Rubit to their roster to temporarily replace the injured Fardaws Aimaq. The American forward-center brings valuable experience and skill to the team’s frontcourt as they navigate their early schedule.
🏀 Return to a Familiar Stage
This marks Rubit’s first appearance in the EuroCup since the 2017 season when he played for ratiopharm Ulm. His return brings his career full circle, adding a seasoned presence to the competition after spending several years at a higher level.
⭐ Proven at the Highest Level
Rubit is well-known in European basketball, with five successful seasons in the EuroLeague playing for top clubs like Olympiacos, Žalgiris, and Bayern. His best period was with Bayern, where he averaged 10.9 points and was named MVP for January 2023 before an Achilles injury cut his season short.
📈 Ready to Contribute
After recovering, Rubit played briefly in Germany and Kuwait, where he showed he is still in great form, averaging 19.2 points and 8.8 rebounds for Al Kuwait SC. Lietkabelis hopes his scoring touch will give them an immediate boost.
