Greek team Aris Betsson has announced that head coach Bogdan Karaicic will be leaving the club. The decision was made after a difficult start to the season, where the team lost four consecutive games across both its domestic league and the EuroCup.
This move signals that the club is looking for a fresh start to turn its season around. The team’s performance in the Greek Stoiximan Basket League, where they are currently 0–3, combined with two straight losses in the EuroCup, prompted the management to take action.
🏀 A String of Disappointing Results
Aris has had a challenging beginning to their campaign. The team’s inability to secure a win in their first three domestic league games, along with back-to-back defeats in the European competition, put significant pressure on the coaching staff and players. This series of losses ultimately led the team’s management to make a change in leadership.
📣 The Tipping Point
The decision came after a home loss to Manresa. Fans at the Nick Galis Hall expressed their disappointment with the result and the team’s performance. In response, club officials held a meeting to discuss the situation, which resulted in the decision to part ways with the 41-year-old Serbian coach.
🤝 An Official Announcement
On Tuesday, October 22, Aris management, including General Manager Nikos Zisis, met with Bogdan Karaicic to inform him of the decision. In an official statement, the club expressed its gratitude, saying, “Aris Betsson thanks Bogdan Karaicic for his contribution to the team and wishes him all the best in the continuation of his career.” The club is now expected to look for a new head coach and may consider other roster changes to improve its performance.
