Tenerife Starts BCL Strong with Win Over Trapani

Former champion Tenerife started their FIBA Basketball Champions League campaign with a solid 84-78 road win against Trapani. Despite a strong effort from the Italian newcomers, Tenerife’s experience shone through in the final moments to secure the victory.

The key difference was Tenerife’s deep and balanced offense, with 11 different players getting on the scoreboard. Trapani fought hard and kept the game close, proving they can compete at this level, but couldn’t find a way to take the lead when it mattered most.

💪 Tenerife’s Balanced Team Effort

Tenerife showed why they are considered one of the tournament favorites. Their balanced attack was led by Aaron Doornekamp with 13 points, while Bruno Fitipaldo and Jaime Fernandez added 12 and 11 points, respectively. This teamwork allowed them to control the game’s pace and fend off Trapani’s comeback attempts.

👏 Trapani’s Strong Debut

The Italian team, which surprised many in Europe last season, made a respectable BCL debut. They were led by Jordan Ford, who scored 16 points, and Timmy Allen, who added 14. Trapani managed to reduce the lead to just four points several times but couldn’t complete the comeback against the experienced Spanish side.

📅 What’s Next in Group D

Looking ahead, Tenerife will play their next game at home against Bnei Herzliya. Meanwhile, Trapani will also play at home again, this time facing Tofaş. In the other Group D match, Tofaş secured a narrow 90-86 win over Bnei Herzliya.
