Gran Canaria kicked off their Basketball Champions League season with an impressive 98-61 victory over Benfica. The Spanish team showed great teamwork in their opening match, with every player on the roster getting on the scoreboard in a convincing win.
🏀 Dominant from the Start
The game was decided early on, as Gran Canaria came out strong and never looked back. They finished the first quarter with a commanding 32-16 lead and continued to build on it. At one point, their lead grew to a massive 47 points, leaving Benfica with little chance to catch up.
✨ Newcomers Make Their Mark
The team’s new players had a fantastic debut. Isaiah Wong led the scoring with 16 points, while Brian Angola contributed 12 points and Kur Kuath added 11. Their strong performances showed how well they have already settled into the team and made an immediate impact on the court.
👏 A True Team Effort
One of the most impressive parts of the win was the balanced scoring attack. Coach Jaka Lakovic will be very happy that all 12 of his players scored, which highlights the team’s depth and chemistry. For Benfica, Koby McEwan was the standout player, scoring 17 points in a tough game for his side.
