The Basketball Champions League (BCL) is back, and the first week of the regular season was full of action. Fans were treated to everything from dominant victories to games that were decided in the final moments. It was a fantastic start, setting an exciting tone for the season ahead.
🏆 Champions Unicaja Off to a Flying Start
The defending champions, Unicaja, showed everyone they are still the team to beat. Even with some new players on their roster, they played with great confidence. They secured a big 97-66 win against Mersin, making a clear statement that they are ready to defend their title.
✈️ Road Warriors Secure Key Wins
While playing at home is usually an advantage, several visiting teams proved they could handle the pressure. Tenerife, Chalon, Gran Canaria, and AEK Athens all traveled and came away with important wins. These victories on the road are a great way for teams to build momentum early in the season.
🔥 Nail-Biting Finishes and a Historic Return
The week was packed with close contests. The game between Oostende and Karditsa was so tight it went into overtime, with Karditsa eventually winning 95-93. Another highlight was Spartak Subotica’s return to international competition after more than 20 years. They celebrated with a dramatic 74-73 victory over Le Mans, thanks to some clutch plays by Olivier Hanlan near the end of the game.
