BCL Teams Refresh Rosters with New Signings

Several teams in the Basketball Champions League are adjusting their lineups as the season continues. MLP Academics Heidelberg and Elan Chalon have brought in new American players to strengthen their squads, though for very different reasons. Meanwhile, VEF Riga has parted ways with a player, and Filou Oostende has appointed a club legend to a key management position.

These moves show how teams are responding to their performance so far. Some are trying to fix problems and get back on track, while others are adding depth to maintain their winning streak. The changes also highlight the dynamic nature of European basketball, where rosters can shift quickly.

💪 Heidelberg Strengthens Backcourt

Struggling with injuries and a 1-3 record in Group A, MLP Academics Heidelberg has signed 25-year-old American guard Eric Reed Jr. for the rest of the season. Coming from German club Veolia Towers Hamburg, Reed brings experience from leagues in Belgium, Greece, and Cyprus. He expressed his excitement about the move, stating, “I am excited to begin this new journey.” His arrival is hoped to provide a much-needed boost to the team.

✍️ Chalon Adds Temporary Firepower

In contrast, Elan Chalon, who are undefeated with a 3-0 record in Group B, have signed American forward Jordan Tucker. The 27-year-old joins on a short-term contract until the end of December as a temporary replacement for an injured player. Tucker, who previously played for Butler and Duke in the NCAA, returns to France after a stint with Chorale Roanne and will add more scoring ability to the already successful team.

🔄 Other Roster and Management Changes

Elsewhere, VEF Riga, who are winless at 0-3 in Group F, have mutually agreed to part ways with 31-year-old guard Toms Leimanis. In a different kind of move, Filou Oostende has appointed club legend Sam Van Rossom as its new general manager. The 39-year-old, who retired from playing in 2024 after a successful career that included two EuroCup titles, returns to the club where he started to lead its basketball operations.
