ALBA Berlin has officially welcomed experienced Lithuanian center Martynas Echodas to their team. The 28-year-old big man has signed a contract that will keep him with the German club until the end of the 2025-26 season, where he will compete in Germany’s top league and the Basketball Champions League.
This move adds a strong presence in the paint for ALBA Berlin. Echodas is known for his scoring and rebounding, and his experience across various top European leagues will be a great asset. However, he is currently recovering from a knee injury, so his return to full fitness will be a key factor for the team’s success.
🏀 A New Chapter in Germany
ALBA Berlin has strengthened its frontcourt by signing Martynas Echodas. The 2.06-meter-tall center is joining the team on a two-year deal. He last played for Manisa Basket in Turkey, but his season was cut short in December due to a knee injury. Echodas is currently focused on his rehabilitation training to prepare for the upcoming season with his new club.
📈 Impressive Skills on the Court
Before his injury, Echodas was putting up strong numbers. In the Turkish league, he averaged 13.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for Manisa Basket. His performance was even more dominant in the Basketball Champions League, where he recorded an impressive 15.4 points and 8.2 rebounds on average, showing his ability to be a key player on both ends of the floor.
🌍 A Journey Through European Basketball
Echodas has built a notable career across Europe. He started in the youth system of the famous Lithuanian club Žalgiris Kaunas and later became a star player for Rytas Vilnius, where he was named the EuroCup Rising Star in 2019. He has also played in Italy with Reyer Venezia, giving him a wide range of experience that will benefit ALBA Berlin.
🇱🇹 Proudly Representing His Country
In addition to his club career, Echodas has been a regular member of the Lithuanian national team. He has represented his country since the U16 level and made his senior team debut in 2018. He has played in 22 official games, including major tournaments like EuroBasket 2022, bringing valuable international experience to his new team.
