AEK Signs Veteran Guard Lukas Lekavicius

Greek basketball club AEK has officially welcomed Lithuanian point guard Lukas Lekavicius to its roster for the 2025-26 season. The 31-year-old veteran announced his move in a video message, warmly greeting fans in Greek. His arrival strengthens the team as they prepare to compete in the Basketball Champions League.

Lekavicius’s signing is a significant move for AEK, adding a player with extensive high-level experience. His skills as a playmaker and his familiarity with European basketball will be valuable assets. He is expected to play a key role in guiding the team’s offense and mentoring younger players throughout the season.

🤝 A Familiar Face Returns to Greece

This will be Lukas Lekavicius’s second time playing professional basketball in Greece. He previously played for Panathinaikos from 2017 to 2019, where he helped the team win two Greek Basket League championships (2018, 2019) and a Greek Cup (2019). His prior experience in the country should help him settle in quickly with his new team.

🏆 A Career Filled with Success

Before returning to Greece, Lekavicius spent most of his career with the top Lithuanian club, Zalgiris. With them, he won six league championships and gained valuable experience playing in 243 EuroLeague games. On the international stage, he was a key player for the Lithuanian national team, winning a silver medal at the EuroBasket 2015 tournament.

🏀 Joining a Strong Roster

At AEK, Lekavicius will reunite with his former Zalgiris and Lithuanian national team teammate, Mindaugas Kuzminskas. He joins a solid lineup that includes returning players like Dimitris Flionis, Chris Silva, and Frank Bartley IV. The team, led by coach Dragan Sakota, is building a competitive roster to challenge for titles in the upcoming season.
